AWA+D Salon

For the November/December meeting, we’ll be talking about the many facets of pro bono work (including unpaid internships), the idea of architecture as a civil right and the possibilities of doing meaningful public work. We’ll start with this intelligent list of questions (thank you Anne Zimmerman!!!).

Mentorship Matchmaking Event

AWA+D will officially kick off its mentorship program with this informal but lively Matchmaking Event. This members-only function will offer those interested in both sides of the mentorship relationship to have several brief, conversations (speed dating-style). Soon after the event, we hope to establish mentor/mentee pairs for the year.

The artists, architects, and designers on this panel head daring and innovative practices.  Their sustained, visionary work makes them icons of L.A.’s design scene and beyond.  Iconic LA Women Designers brings these women together in conversation to discuss the road to icon, the challenges of practice, and the changes required to transform endemic hurdles within the design professions – family, economics, technology – into opportunities for the next generation of female practitioners.

Drinks by Design Happy Hour

Drinks by Design is a monthly networking happy hour for the Architecture and Design industry which started in San Francisco in 2008. The first happy hour was simply a group of about 20 friends working in the same industry, who decided to meet up monthly to “talk shop” over cocktails. The group grew organically to its current 2,600 design professionals.
